FOOTBALL : ESK A17, U17 rout Ecole Française, EPA

The ESK Football teams ; A17 (Above 17) and U17 (Under 17) outclassed Ecole Française, EPA 7-0, 4-0 respectively in Kicukiro District in the ongoing annual “Amahoro Kagame Cup 2018” competition on Sunday 11 February 2018.

More games are underway before we get champions from Kicukiro District, just as it is in other 29 Districts of Rwanda.

This competition builds up from the district level, way up to province level and finally to the national level when the best teams meet to decide the “Amashuri Kagame Cup 2018” champions.

LDK A17 are the defending football champion of the highly competitive league. They were crowned champions last June in Huye District by the Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education Hon. Isaac MUNYAKAZI, walking away with a trophy and Rwf500, 000 prize money.

The best teams in the annual “Amashuri Kagame Cup” progress to compete in the FEASSA (Federation of East Africa Secondary School Championship).
Rwanda will host the FEASSA 2018 tournament around August this year, playing host to the best teams of secondary schools from the EAC (East Africa Community) member states (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan and Burundi).
All eyes are on Rwandan teams to shine at FESSA 2018, hoping that they will seize the opportunity of home advantage and support.

The big question is, will ESK A17 defend the football “Amashuri Kagame Competition” championship to progress to the highly competitive FEASSA to share spoils with likes of St Mary’s Kitende who are the defending champions ?
“We are determined and the boys are prepared to put up a spirited fight this time. Our focus is on FEASSA but first we have to excel in the preliminaries at national level before we get to the regional level. It is our time to our country shine at FEASSA”, said Jimmy Gihana, the Sports Director at ESK
